This resource is a learning mat aimed at medium to low ability students at Key Stage 4 or high ability students at Key Stage 3. It should take an hour to complete and is based on responding to an AQA English Language Paper 2 Question 3.

This is a learning mat which covers every question on the reading section of Paper 2. This would be suitable for low to medium Key Stage 4 students or high ability Key Stage three. This learning mat should take around 50 minutes if done under timed conditions appropriate to the paper however, it can also be done in class and cover a good few lessons (1 1/2 to 2 hours).

Based on AQA Language Paper 2, this planner supports low to medium ability students in guiding their learning by supporting them in structuring their response to a transactional writing piece. It uses the acronym FAT HORSE (facts, audience address, triples, hyperbole, opinion, rhetorical questions, superlatives, emotive language). This would be suitable for a low to medium ability Key Stage 4 lesson or a high ability Key Stage 3.
